Tis the season for fake snow, so I thought I would test out the Smoke Ninja Pro hazer kit and the bubble formula to create some fake snow for a recent shoot. I was actually surprised with how well it worked. Check out the video below and let me know what you think! smoke ninja pro snow effect.mov Thanks to Caroline for modeling this for me! https://www.instagram.com/carolinegosswein/

Behind the Scenes from Nanlite Continuous Light Portrait Workshop I had an awesome workshop this weekend using Nanlite continuous lights for portraits and I wanted to share a behind the scenes look from one of the setups. This shot of Layla was taken during one of the demos and this video breaks down every part of the process. I'll apologize now because I didn't take the time to put the images on the screen in the video, but you can see the giant TV behind me which will give you an idea of what the images looked like. If you have questions about the setup or my process, feel free to leave those below and I will answer them as soon as I can! Final Image

I posted a story about the motorized backdrop system I installed yesterday in my studio and had a lot of questions about where to get it. So I figured I would share the link! I got the 6 backdrop system, but they make a 3 and 4 roller system as well https://amzn.to/4gWokhN You’ll also need these metal tubes… https://amzn.to/4eV7EWd Let me know if you have any other questions about it

Bonus... the beer is cheaper when you do it like this 😜 I just found some old footage from a few livestreams I taught a couple years ago so I decided to cut them down and share them here. In this video, I explain how I created a moody portrait of David from scratch with just manipulating the lighting. My lights were Profoto, and my background was a Duo board from V-flat World. Check out this video for the full breakdown... and then some! Lighting Tutorial | How to create a vintage bar scene in studio Take your photography to the NEXT LEVEL! This was originally a technique that. Shot a few years ago and recently had a client shoot that I thought it would work really well. In this video I shot some Images without the product, but I thought it would be good to share the original client shots to show why I chose to use mirrors. *in the video I say it’s a Profoto A2 on the floor, but it’s actually an A10 The client My client for this shoot was company that makes an LED light there’s mask which is always fun, but somewhat challenging to shoot. They usually want a variance of shots of the front and back of the mask. This shows what it looks like on someone, but also shows the actual LED lights. Typically this means shooting 2 different images, one of the front and another of the back. I thought it would be cool to try and shoot with a mirror to get both parts of the mask in one shot. The challenge Whenever you’re shooting with reflective objects things are going to be a bit of a challenge. In this case, I had 3 different mirrors which were showing way too much of the room. To fix this I brought in some v-flats to basically flag the reflection. The next challenge was making sure I couldn’t see myself in any of the mirrors. Once I dialed all of that in, it was just a matter of making sure the product was being showcased in a way the client was happy. Final Images Original inspiration This photo was shot quite a few years ago with the same technique, but slightly different lighting. Awhile ago my buddy Jordan came into my studio and we shot some content for his website etc. One of the shots from that shoot was this one, which I liked enough to shoot a video for. I honestly thought it was aready out there on the V-flat world youtube channel, but apparently I was wrong... Don't tell them I posted it here 🤫 Anyway, the reason I wanted to share this was because Jordan just released a song woth Afrojack and Steve Aoki a couple days ago so I thought it was fitting to share. Check out the vidoe and let me know what you think! Also, I have a couple seats left for my NY/NJ creative lightig workshop where you'll have an opportunity to win a FREE v-flat from V-Flat World. I also just got word that Tether Tools is giving me a LeverLock to give away as well! Don't miss this awesome opportunity to take your photography to the NEXT LEVEL! One thing I always hated when I traveled with gear was paying for overweight luggage. With the travel case I have, it almost was over the limit before I even put anything in it. To sold that problem, all you need is a media or press badge. Don’t worry, you don’t have to be employed by a newspaper or media company to get one. I used a template I found online and had 2 badges shipped to me for $10. Well worth the price considering how much luggage fees are these days. Here’s a link to the template I used, but there are plenty of other options out there. https://www.zazzle.com/journalist_or_reporter_photo_qr_code_press_pass_id_badge-256519135689300753

I've posted a few videos about Evoto Ai as a retouching software, but in their most recent update, they completely changed the game by adding tethering directly into the software! Not only can you tether, but you can also apply all your edits instantly. This is going to be an absolute game changer when it comes to speeding up your workflow. *side note, I tried tethering with a Lumix G9 which never tethers to anything, and it worked flawlessly! I might have to make the switch back to Panasonic 😜 Another huge feature that was added in this update was glasses glare removal which takes any guesswork out of removing unwanted glare from glasses. If you're an Evoto user, head over to the app and download the new version to gain access to these features! Here is one setting that you should change in Capture One immediatly! Nobody likes learning a new program from the ground up, but making the switch to Capture One is a lot easier with this really simple trick.
